About The Vine

Our Church

Both our Eltham and Hurstbridge campuses are welcoming and family-friendly spaces. You can expect our services to be contemporary and relaxed, and there are often babies and young children playing at the back of the room while the service is on.

Our bush setting is one thing that makes us unique! Come and visit our Eltham Campus which is situated on 1.9 hectares of beautiful bushland that our neighbours often enjoy. Our Hurstbridge campus meets at the Hurstbridge Hub, also close to stunning parkland and walking/cycling trails.

Many of us live within the local area, so we believe that our DNA reflects that of our community. We have a variety of ages that attend both campuses, ranging from young families to retirees.

We started off in 1987 as Eltham Baptist Church, a church plant of Blackburn North Baptist Church, which met at various community locations until we purchased our current site in Nyora Road in 2010. With the launch of the Hurstbridge campus in 2017, we became The Vine Baptist Church, reflecting our desire to abide in Christ (John 15:4-5).

Our Values

Relational: We believe God created us to live in community with one another, expressing love for God and love for one another.

Formational: We desire to discover the fullness of our identity in Christ and the life that God created us to live.

Missional: We desire to help others, both locally and globally, to discover the fullness of this life in God.

Our Beliefs

The Bible is God’s Word, divinely inspired and authoritative.

God is a Trinity: One God in Three Persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ, the son of God, is fully God and fully man.

We are all sinners and in need of salvation.

For all who repent and trust in Jesus Christ, Christ’s death on the cross and physical resurrection saves us from the penalty and power of sin.

The Holy Spirit works in all believers to sanctify them.

We look forward to the resurrection of all believers, and to Christ’s return where he will judge all humanity.

There are two ordinances or sacraments – baptism and the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion.

As a Constituted Member Church of the Baptist Union of Victoria (BUV), our beliefs are in accordance with the Doctrinal Basis and the Principles and Ideals of the Baptist Faith contained in the BUV Constitution. For more information, go to:
